The creator

From Panos Papadopoulos

Forty years in design
have taught me one thing:

When a garment is right,
the body speaks differently.

Confidence is not added.
It is revealed.

My work has always begun
with respect for the human form—
and a refusal to compromise
on structure, balance, and longevity.

What we build today
must still stand tomorrow.

— Panos Papadopoulos

Passion, love and respect

Passion, love and respect are at the heart of everything I do.

They’re the three qualities I have brought to all my work, designing thousands of pieces over 40 years.

I first learned them as a child. I listened to the music and watched the films of Tolis Voskopoulos. I recognized his characters’ struggle for survival. He overcame his struggles with passion.

Everything revolves around love. Millions of songs, poems, novels and paintings are about it. Without love, we can’t find harmony, mental equilibrium or physical balance. We can recognize it from childhood. It is invaluable, available, and free.

When I first started in business, I treated my suppliers and my retailers as partners.

I never approached design as making a statement for me. It is always about making a statement for you. And that is where respect comes in.

There is an innate understanding of the human body and what we each find comfortable in my designs.

This requires an intimate knowledge of proportion and comfort. That means design that is intentional, and technically correct, not design revolving around a creator’s whims. The form and fit have to be right. The cuts are precise. The manufacturing is done with care.

It is about choosing materials that are comfortable and dyes that are natural, respecting the environment. In many cases I have had to pioneer materials and manufacturing methods to get the results that are right for you. They have to endure, because they transcend fashion, and because it is only right that they continue to feel good after multiple wearings and washings.

This is how passion, love and respect are brought to life with Papadopoulos.
